Qualifying from Leeds University in 1981 with distinction in restorative dentistry, oral surgery and prosthetics, Tim worked at the Leeds General Infirmary dealing primarily with maxillo facial injuries prior to the seat belt regulations coming into force, and gained a lot of experience in dealing with major trauma. Tim worked in general practice in West Yorkshire prior to relocating to Kent where he ran his own practice in Maidstone prior to joining the Hospital Lane Team in 2016.
Tim has special interests in the treatment of root canal systems (endodontics) and teaches this area to both newly qualified and experienced general dental practitioners. He was awarded the Diploma in General Dental Practice by the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners in 1995 and he won the British Endodontic Society General Practitioners Prize in 2001. He is acting chair of the Kent Local Dental Committee which represents the interests of 650 dentists in Kent and their patients at statutory level. Tim also has a special interest in antimicrobial resistance and is on the West Kent Clinical Commissioning group Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee.
