Alan Knight qualified from Birmingham University in 2005. After two years in general practice he decided to take Senior House Officer positions in various maxillofacial units, working with consultants specialising in Head and Neck pathology and trauma. It was at this time he passed his membership examinations of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
He then went on to work as a Specialty Dentist in Oral Surgery at Birmingham Dental Hospital and Kings College Hospital. Here he gained vast experience in all aspects of oral surgery as well as the treatment of anxious patients with intravenous sedation.
As well as this, Alan maintained part time positions in general practice and this is where he developed his interest in Endodontics (Root Canal Treatment) and has led him to his current position of undertaking specialist training at the renowned Endodontic unit of Guys Dental Hospital. He is heavily involved in research and is interested in all aspects of root canal treatment, especially endodontic microsurgery.
Alan particularly enjoys helping getting patients get out of pain and his experiences in both Oral Surgery and Root Canal Treatment places him in an ideal position to diagnose and help solve patient’s problems. His experience of managing anxious patients combined with his kind and caring manner helps alleviate any anxieties the patient may have towards dental treatment.
