At Hospital Lane, our Reception team is made up of highly experienced dental Receptionists, who are also qualified Dental Nurses.

We realise the importance of ensuring that each patient is treated by a Dentist who is exactly right for them. By asking a few questions at our first conversation, we can get a feel for your dental needs and who you would be best suited to seeing at our Clinic. There are many Dentists at Hospital Lane and they have a wide range of special interests and expertise; it is important that you see the one who is right for you.

Your appointment

We will telephone or text or email you on the working day before your appointment to remind you of the time. Please tell us how you prefer to be contacted when booking your first appointment. Our Clinic has a large, free car-park, two designated disabled parking spaces near the entrance and one electric vehicle (EV) charging space.  We also have a small parking area for motorcycles and bicycles. Our friendly Reception team look forward to welcoming you to our bright, spacious and modern Clinic.  During the current Covid-19 global situation, we have had to make some changes to the arrivals and clinic entry procedures. We ask you to arrive 10 minutes early for your appointment and do not enter the Clinic until instructed to do so.  When you arrive, please remain in your car and call us on our designated Arrivals number 01634 201318.  Please note, this is different to our main phone number.  You will be asked some Covid-19 related health screening questions and required to complete a confidential medical history update, GDPR consent and Terms and Conditions consent.  When we are ready for you to enter the Clinic, we will call you, so please make sure that we have an up-to-date mobile phone number for you.  Upon entry your temperature will be digitally scanned using no-touch technology and securely recorded.  You will be required to sanitise your hands at entry and to wear a facemask; this can be provided or you can wear your own. Please note, only the patient will be permitted entry to the Clinic, unless the patient is aged under 16 years old or requires a carer/legal chaperone.  Please leave excessive belongings in your car.  There are limited toilet facilities and no tooth brushing is permitted at the moment. You may need to have a full mouth radiograph (x-ray) taken, when any removable items around the head and neck area (e.g. earrings, necklace, hairclips, hearing aid, glasses, dentures, hair extensions etc) will need to be removed, so please prepare ahead for this. Although contactless/card payment is preferred where possible, payments by cash are accepted. If you should be self-isolating or answer YES to any of the following questions, please contact us and we will to reschedule your appointment. In the past 7 days, have you: * had a fever or high temperature (37.8c or above) * had a new, continuous cough * had a loss of or change in sense of smell or taste * been in close contact (less than 2m for 15minutes or more) with someone  who has/has had those symptoms or is being tested for Covid-19 * visited any countries on the government quarantine list Hospital Lane Waiting Room

Your first dental appointment at Hospital Lane will be booked for forty minutes, during which a detailed examination of your mouth, teeth and gums will take place and digital radiographs (x-rays) are usually taken. A printed treatment plan detailing any recommended appointments and fees will be provided and explained during the consultation between yourself and your dentist. Please talk to your dentist about any particular concerns, problems or questions you have and let him or her know if something about your smile bothers you – there may be something we can do about that. You will be asked to present your treatment plan to Reception so a signed copy can be taken and our Reception team will arrange your next appointments for you.

Existing Patients

We value long standing relationships with our patients and continuity of care helps with appropriate treatment planning. To ensure that we have all of your up-to-date details and medical history information, we will ask you to check and update your patient record via a digital 'Clinipad' tablet at regular intervals.

Recalls

You will be advised on the recall frequency that your dentist has recommended for you; for most patients, a dental examination is every twelve months and hygienist appointments are every six months. Our automated recall system operates via email, with a follow up reminder by text message one month later. Please ensure that you keep us updated with your current email address and mobile telephone number. If you prefer recalls by post, we can arrange that. Recalls via email and text message offer patients a convenient Online Booking option. Alternatively, we are happy to arrange recall appointments by telephone or via emails to our Clinic at reception@hospitallane.com.
